Plastic Surgery is a diverse and fascinating surgical
specialty. The word plastic is derived from the Greek
plastikos, meaning to shape, form or mould. Today the
specialty is broadly defined as the surgical restoration of
form and function, particularly of the skin and outer
soft tissue layers of the body. My practice is particularly
specialized in two areas;
Melanoma and advanced skin cancer, including
the assessment, surgery and onging management of tumours
at body sites requiring reconstructive surgery to achieve
optimal cosmetic outcomes. I conduct my melanoma practice
as a member of the Sydney Melanoma Unit.
Patient consultations occur in my Mosman office and from
early 2006, in the new SMU facilities at the Mater Hospital,
North Sydney.
Cosmetic surgery of the face, breasts,
abdomen and limbs. I have had an active cosmetic surgery
practice since 1991. I have a firm belief that cosmetic
surgery should be undertaken with the same degree of professionalism
expected of medical practice generally. On this basis, my
staff and I find that my elective cosmetic surgery patients
are re-assured by our practice's overall approach and appreciate
the extent of my training as a specialist surgeon. Similarly,
the oncology patients are reassured that whatever surgery
they require, they will directly benefit from my experience
as a cosmetic plastic surgeon to achieve the best postible
aesthetic outcome.
I certainly enjoy my practice immensely , particularly the relationship
with my patients. I also believe that many of our patients
are similarly very interested in the surgical techniques utilized
in their care.
This
website is intended to provide information about a range of
issues that are central to some of the areas of my clinical
experience and personal practice of plastic surgery. Hopefully
it will also provide some insight into how our practice functions.
